EGEW MU EcoLab and Thailand’s Research Network for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Policy on Food, Fuel and Climate Change

From 11 to 14 February 2016, Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa (Researcher) from Eco-Efficient Engineering Research Lab (MU EcoLab), International Graduate Programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EGEW), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University participated in 
a  meeting with a research team from 5 universities including Prof. Dr. Shabbir H. Gheewala (Mentor) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thapat Silalertruksa from the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rattanawan Mungkung (Researcher) from Department of Environmental Technology and Management, Kasetsart University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Charongpun Musikavong (Researcher) from Department of Civil Engineering, Prince of Songkla University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Napat Jakrawatana (Researcher) from School of Energy and Environment, University of Phayao and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jittima Prasara-A (Researcher) from Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahasarakham University.


The 1st meeting in 2016 at Department of Civil Engineering, Songkla University was arranged as a part of “Research Network for LCA and Policy on Food, Fuel and Climate Change (FFCC)” project under the financial support from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) (2012-2017). The FFCC project aims at providing policy recommendations on food and fuel issues vis-à-vis climate change by using LCA. This meeting also included a site-visit at a palm oil factory in Satun Province. The palm oil milling factory has supported sustainableThailand by utilizing all by-products and waste as materials for other industries and for bioenergy.
