EGEW and MUKA Organized “ENGINEERING FOR SUSTAINABILITY” Seminar to Promote International Graduate Programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (M. Eng. & PhD)

Dr. Vorasuda Sucarom, Assistant to the President of Mahidol University at Kanchanaburi Campus, was the chairman in the opening ceremony of “Engineering for Sustainability” seminar at Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus organized by International Masters and PhD programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EGEW), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (EGCE), Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus in collaboration with Thai Bachelor Program in Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management, Division of Engineering, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus (MUKA) on 17 February 2016.

The seminar focused on how to apply engineering principles for sustainable development by using tools from the post graduate research and education in the fields of environmental engineering and management, water resources engineering and management, disaster engineering and management, eco-efficient engineering and management, and geoinformatics for sustainable communities. The applied research in these areas were demonstrated through four presentations: “Engineering for Sustainability: Gen Y and Eco-Lifestyle”, “Innovative Research and Challenges in Environmental Problem Solving”, “Relationship between Local Government and Residents in Disaster Prevention Activities”, “Alternative Energy and Materials from Waste”, and “Environmental Informatics”.  Finally, International Graduate Programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (M. Eng. & PhD), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus was introduced with the perspective of curriculums, funding and student exchange opportunities at some of the collaborating partner institutions, such as, Kyoto University (Japan), National University of Singapore (Singapore), Seoul National University (South Korea), Liverpool John Moores University (UK),  Aalborg University (Denmark), Technical University of Hamburg (Germany), and University of Queensland (Australia).
